100 Fildzana - 36

                                                                 Open to Interpretation!

I usually have no idea what I will name a piece until I see it up on the screen. For this one in particular, nothing came up. Will you join me in deciding the Caption for this cup!?*

What is your vision? What do you see? Who is in there? What are they doing? What does this inspire in you?

Share with us - you are Well Come!

*If you leave a comment on what you see and put a caption that best suits it -  I will choose the one that most closely resembles my original instinct for the cup and repost this particular piece with your name and caption next Sunday for #43! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

  1. I see a southern belle looking to the right, and a fire which might be some distance away lower left. "The night they burned old Dixie down" would have to be my caption.

  2. Same as Steve, very clear, only I saw her as a bridesmaid who got too close to the wedding cake.

  3. I see "The Owl has arrived, but he will not tell" Or Night Hunter, I guess...To me it looks like an owl hiding above the forked trunk of a tree.

  4. She turned away and smoke danced in her shadow

  5. Happiest person right now, reading all your comments about what you see in the cup! I love with what determined vision both Steve and susan see something very similar and I see both the vision of Dixie and definitely the wedding cake. Haha, makes me smile the idea of getting 'too close' to the wedding cake. Also, Steve: Dixie - it is interesting that you see particularly a southern belle. Isn't this amazing? That from a few grounds of coffee you can see the figures of people and animals, see even the color of hair or type of culture they come from. Fascinating!!!

  6. Susan E - I peered and struggled with the owl the whole morning coffee cup long, as I was a bit fixated on making out people. And then: I saw the contours of it's head where I had been looking all along any way, lol. Your spirit animal comes through the cup. I like the 'Night Hunter' too - it does have a feel of stealth and most definitely I feel and see the word 'shhhhhhhh' in this cup. Oh, bravo to all of you - I am just so thrilled in this impromptu 'happening', this focus and intent to 'see' in collaboration.

  7. This is how it is done, btw in Bosnia and other cultures where small cups of thick coffee are read. Around the kitchen table or on two short benches, maybe sitting on the carpets or out on the porch - when finished drinking the coffee, having gossiped and joked around, eaten the slice of cake or cookies..the cups have been turned around on a plate for a while already, secretly and internally preparing pictures, waiting to be noticed...
Sometimes there is a person who naturally 'reads' the cups and tells fortunes..but often it's just a play, one person (it's mostly women) will say, hey let's see what yours says and will then peer in the cup. 'Oh, I see a man, oh look, here is a path or a lucky number'. Then all will strain to look and then the next cup will eagerly be passed around. The women make comments on each others 'destiny' and talk and joke some more..maybe have some more coffee and cake. The collective gathering of energy - mostly female- as they tell their stories through their coffee cups. A playful way of continuing an ancient rite that has been played out the world over with various mediums.
